Jameela Jamil, Princess Eugenie of York, Halima Aden & Munroe Bergdorf Come Together for IWD 2020

#TOGETHERBAND has brought together a group of brilliant individuals for a film to inspire and empower females everywhere. Entitled ‘I Wish, I Want’, the video asks the women about a time they wish they’d done something different in the past and what they want for womanhood in the future. Starring alongside Jameela Jamil are Halima Aden, Princess Eugenie, Donna Air, Munroe Bergdorf, Daisy Maskell, Alicia Agneson, Tigerlilly Taylor, Deborah Joseph and Jessica Olie.

Jameela wishes she “hadn’t told myself when I was younger that my entire worth as a human being depended on a number on a weighing scale” and wants ‘women everywhere to be more careful with the things they say to themselves. If you wouldn’t tolerate those things being said to a woman you love, you are not allowed to say those same things to yourself’. Princess Eugenie wishes ‘women and girls could come together more’ while Donna Air wants ‘lots for women. To be ambitious. To speak out, debate and have equal opportunity’.

The #TOGETHERBAND film is made to celebrate the launch of UN Global Goal 5: Gender Equality on International Women’s Day.

In addition, women across the cultural spectrum including host of ‘The Guilty Feminist’ Deborah Frances-White, Lioness Lucy Bronze, writer and activist Scarlett Curtis, TV personality Gemma Collins, influencers Niomi Smart and Camila Coelho, presenter Ashley James and actress/singer Nicola Roberts will be posting about why Gender Equality matters whilst wearing their Goal 5 #TOGETHERBAND.

#TOGETHERBAND have created two exclusive films with activist and I Weigh Founder Jameela Jamil and tennis icon Billie Jean King. Jamil reads a poem written by film-maker Harvey Marcus. With Jameela's I Weigh campaign at its core, the poem is made up from some of her most powerful quotes from her Instagram feed. Billie Jean King discusses championing gender equality throughout her life from the age of 13.

Goal 5 aims to end discrimination, exploitation and violence towards women, eliminate forced marriages and genital mutilation whilst promoting equal rights and access to economic resources, health and rights.

Profits from this band will go to the Billie Jean King Leadership Initiative who works with people in positions of power to increase diverse opportunities through their three pillars of Lift, Learn and Lead, promoting equality and inclusion, advocating for equal pay for equal work.
